Della Shea is the Chief Data Governance Officer for Symcor Inc.; a leading provider of payment processing and data services in Canada. As a member of the senior leadership team, Della is responsible for creating and leading the organization’s data strategy including, data management, data operations, governance and regulatory compliance. Under Della’s leadership, Symcor was recognized internationally in 2010 with the Privacy Innovation Award presented by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). In 2013 she was selected as Canada's Information Security Executive of the year by the Technology Executive Network. Prior to joining Symcor, Della was the Director of Privacy and Information Risk for the Royal Bank of Canada where her strategic leadership helped shape many of the Bank’s most innovative and challenging data initiatives during her tenure. Della is a recognized thought leader and her work has been featured in numerous publications. She hold several privacy and security designations as well as a Master’s of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Business, Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Acadia University. She is an international board member of the Information Accountability Foundation, an advisory board member of the Conference Board of Canada’s Council of Chief Analytics Officers and Council of Chief Privacy Officers. Della is an experienced speaker at national and international conferences including the prestigious International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners most recently held in Hong Kong China.
